The young actor opened up about the extreme physical demands and serious injuries he has faced while portraying the character Rahim the Carpenter in the popular series ‘Drunkard Morning’ by Narges Abyar.
To faithfully recreate the character as described in the original novel, he underwent a radical physical transformation.
He revealed that he reduced his body fat to a level typically only achieved by professional athletes under the strictest dietary and training regimens.
“The process of reaching that number is very difficult and painful,” Pourfaraj noted, explaining that he followed a heavy diet and intense physical training to mirror the character's description for the audience.
However, the preparation was only part of the challenge; the actor disclosed that he sustained several serious injuries during the filming process.
One of the most significant incidents occurred while filming scenes where his character carries massive tree logs. Pourfaraj recalled a specific take where he carried three large logs on his shoulders, causing his hand to go numb. As a result of this injury, two of his fingers were completely numb and non-functional for an entire month.
Despite the physical setbacks, the actor expressed that his love for the craft keeps him motivated. He has been dedicated to the project for over a year, with filming for the third season still ongoing.
To make his roles more believable, he often conducts field research and incorporates his own personal experiences into his characters.
Beyond ‘Drunkard Morning’, the actor is also awaiting the release of the film ‘Idle’ directed by Hamid Nematollah, and is currently starring in the series ‘Savage’ by Houman Seyyedi.
